Digital Publications Class - Stop Motion Films
January 15, 2016
The South Fork High School Digital Publications class expanded their knowledge of still imagery to include Stop Motion Films during the 2nd quarter of this school year. Stop motion films are, in a nutshell, hundreds and thousands of still images pulled together into a fast moving film. With each photo that is taken the filmmakers create very small adjustments to the items they are working with and in the end the filmmaker has a motion film in which the inanimate object or objects look to be alive and moving independently. An example of this on a much larger and Grander scale would be films like Gumby, Wallace and Grommet, and The Nightmare Before Christmas. Another example on a smaller scale might be of a flip book where the reader just flips through the pages and the objects on the page look like they are moving.
Mrs. Cluck and her class spent the third quarter, researching, planning and creating their own amateur stop motion films. The following videos are a few of their finished products. These films were planned, photographed, and converted to video by the students with Mrs. Cluck's assistance as needed.
